Thelma Bernadine Hale, 94, passed away August 22nd, 2014. She was born on Dec. 23rd, 1919 in Mitchell, NE, to Eva and Kem Smith. She was from a family of 6 children, 2 brothers and 3 sisters and was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill and Chris and her sister Doris. She is survived by her sisters Iris Snyder and Jeanne Kelly.
Thelma was married to James Hale for 60 years until his death in August of 2005. They married during his service in WWII. They had 2 daughters, Cindy Arbuckle of Midland Texas and Candy Jones of Englewood, CO. After the war, they made their home in Englewood, CO. Jimmy was a carpenter and Thelma was a homemaker. They were charter members of the Englewood Elks Club and enjoyed many nights dancing with friends and participating in the many service activities the Elks club participated in.
She was an avid sports fan and could talk sports with the best of them. The Rockies, Nuggets and Broncos have lost a huge fan. Even more than the professional teams she was the biggest fan of her grandkids sports teams.
Thelma and Jimmy left a legacy of 6 Grandchildren and 15 Great grand-children. Some of their favorite pastimes were spending time with their grandkids; taking them fishing and camping and watching them excel in all of their many activities and sports.
Thelma was ever so loved by her family and will be missed immensely.
There will be a reception following the services for friends family at VFW Post #322, 3800 S. Windermere St., Englewood, CO 80110.
