Theresa Arnold Adkison, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at her son's home following an extended illness. She was 84.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2011, at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Stacy Stafford and Rev. Billy Rich officiating and Byrd Funeral Home on West Main directing. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 1051, Dothan, AL 36302.
Theresa Adkison, the daughter of S. A. Weathers and Henry William Arnold was born in Dothan and graduated from Dothan High School in the class of 1945. At the time of her retirement, she was employed in the Finance and Accounting Office at Ft. Rucker. Later she volunteered for eleven years at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was a member since 1990 of First Baptist Church of Dothan and had been a former active member since childhood of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church, now Greystone United Methodist Church. She was a member of Dothan Chapter # 1609 National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Adkison.
Survivors include one son, Travis Adkison and his wife, Peggy; a grandson, Trent Adkison and his wife Robin; great granddaughter, Dalice Adkison, all of Dothan; a brother, Henry Arnold, Jr.3 and his wife Virginia, Columbus, GA; a nephew, Stanley Arnold and his wife, Charlotte, Atlanta, GA; a niece, Gina Campbell and her husband, Andrew, of Louisville, KY.
