Services for Tlexander N. Beasley Jr., 64, of Temple will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Temple. Pastor Julius Buckner will officiate. Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Mr. Beasley died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at his home in Temple.
Tlexander was born February 9, 1945 in Corpus Christi, TX to Alexander Beasley and Murlean Harrison Beasley. He joined the U.S. Army in 1955 and served in Korea and Vietnam. He retired from the army in 1987 after 22 years. While serving he received the Bronze Star Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal in Korea, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Medical Badge and the Gallantry Cross Citation. He lived in Killeen from 1977 to 1988 where he married Vanessa Jones on May 31, 1985. They moved to Temple in 1988 where he worked as a medical technician for Teague Memorial Veterans Hospital until retirement in 2009.
Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a son, Antonio Beasley, who passed in 2005.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years; a son, Christopher Beasley of Temple; two daughters, Carolyn Beasley of Temple and Amy Beasley of Arlington; three brothers, Melvin Beasley of Dallas, Randy Beasley and James Beasley both of Corpus Christi; three sisters, Julie Beasley-Robinson, Murlean Johnson and Erma Lee Kinny all of Corpus Christi; and nine grandchildren, A'zaria Robertson, DeMarrieon, Patterson, Jas'myn Hall, David Hall, Antonia Beasley, Anthonisha Beasley, Antonika Beasley, Antonirria Beasley, and LaDarin Beasley.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple.
