Tracy Leon Campbell, 84, of Hixson, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2013.
He was born May 6, 1928 to the late Walker and Flora Mae Campbell in Grant, Alabama.
Tracy was a proud member of the United States Army and served as a drill sergeant in World War II preparing men to serve overseas. He also served during the Korean War.
He retired from DuPont after 30+ years of service as a machinist. After a few years of retirement he worked for Walden Security. His favorite part of his job was telling tales to those he met at Eastgate Mall.
He was preceded in death by his son Michael Lynn Campbell and his sister, Willa Jean Huff.
Tracy will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty Selvage Campbell. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Stella Campbell; his brother, Thomas Campbell; his sister, Jane Sheets and granddaughter, Valerie Campbell and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, April 5, and 12 to 2 pm on Saturday, April 6, at the North Chapel.
Services for Tracy will be held at 2 pm on Saturday at the North Chapel with Rev. Jeff Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
