Val Gomez, 82, of Evans passed away on January 24, 2013 of cancer. Val was born in Johnstown on September 9, 1930. He attended country schools.
Val was married to Toni Archibeque on August 6, 1956, they married were married 56 years.
Val worked for Eckhart Farms for many years and then went on to work for Agland as a truck driver for 25 years. He loved working for Agland and loved the people he served and took great pride in his work day to day. Val was a very hard worker. He loved old country music and old western movies. His grandson, Matt, said, "After this cowboy, they broke the mold."
Val is survived by his wife, Toni, his son, Wayne, his grandsons, Wayne Jr. and Matthew, great-grandson, Nico, sisters, Lena Renteria of California, Cindy Gomez of Greeley and Irene Tellez of Greeley and many nieces and nephews.
Val was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Aurora Gomez, brothers, Gus, Steve and Joe and sisters, Martha, Mercedes and Grace.
The Recitation of the Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Greeley. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Stoddard Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Burial will follow the Mass at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
