Vera Anfuso

November 8, 1917 - August 16, 2011
ANFUSO, VERA Vera Anfuso was born in San Diego, one of five daughters born to Eduardo and Rosa Venezia. She was a loving wife and mother who dedicated her life to her family. She is preceded in death by her husband Carmelo Anfuso. She is survived by her children Fina (Enzo) Burzotta, Joseph (Shirley) Anfuso, Rosa Maria Anfuso, Stella Barranco and Edward (Stacey) Anfuso, as well as six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews and her sister Pearl Alioto. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an extraordinary cook and zealous card player. She was a native of San Diego and known by many throughout San Diego's Little Italy community. In her earlier years, she worked at her mother's grocery store on India Street and delivered home-made bread to the local fishermen. Later she worked in the local cannery until she met the love of her life and was married and began a family. Viewing is on Friday, August 19th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Merkley-Mitchell Mortuary on 5th Avenue. Mass will be held on Saturday, August 20th, at 9:00 a.m. in the chapel at the Holy Cross Cemetery.
