Verena R. Brunner, 88, of Great Falls and previously of Power, a homemaker, died of natural causes Wednesday at a local nursing home.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 P.M. Friday at Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Power, Mont. Burial in Beck Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughters, Judi (Gene) Phillips of Deer Park, Wash., Ginger (Lee) Wallace of Tyler, Texas, and Jan (Tom) Conners of Great Falls; sons, Rod (Nora) Brunner of Bozeman and Mike (Holly) Brunner of San Bernardino, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Brunner in 1979.
Verena was born Jan. 30, 1922, in Great Falls. She grew up and attended schools in Power, graduating from Power High School in 1941. She married Carl Brunner in 1945. He died in 1979.
Verena worked as a waitress at the Blue Moon in Great Falls and later at Parkers Grocery Store, Smoot Honey in Power, and the Silver Spur in Vaughn.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Ladies Auxilary in Power. Verena enjoyed crocheting, gardening, camping, and most especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Dear Judi and Ginger...we are sorry to read of your Mom's passing...It's never easy. Your Mom taught me how to crochet...something I do to this day. I have thought of her many times thru out the years as I have been passing the time with yarn and hook in hand. Am unable to attended her service but know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
