Verna Louise Albrecht died July 29, 2012 at the Logan House Adult Family Home in Centralia, Wash.
Verna was born Sept. 20, 1932 near Arlington, Wash., to Nora Mae and Thomas Duffin. Verna lived near Chehalis, Wash., most of her life. She attended Chehalis High School graduating in 1950. She was married to Roland Leslie Albrecht on Nov., 3, 1951. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2001 with a large gathering of friends and relatives.
Verna was raised during the depression. She was an active member of the Chehalis First Baptist Church nearly all of her life. She worked in the family logging business. She spent a number of years working as a Grey Lady volunteer at the MacMillan Sanitarium. Later she worked with special education students in Chehalis and Centralia and volunteered in the H.O.S.T. reading program at Adna. Verna's interests included flower gardening, photography and travel. She took a number of trips over the years in the United States and Europe, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband Roland, two brothers, Roy and Tom, two sisters, Dorothy and Martha. She is survived by one sister, Millie, of Winlock, sons Robin (AKA) Charlie of Chehalis, and Mike and his wife Molly of Corvallis, Ore., and grandchildren Andy of Corvallis, Ore., and Robin of New York.
Visitation may be made Thursday, August 2, 2012 between Noon and 5:00 p.m. at Brown Mortuary in Chehalis. A graveside service is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday August 3, 2012 at Claquato Cemetery followed by a memorial service at the Chehalis First Baptist Church on Market Blvd. at 1:30 p.m. with a reception following.
