Vincent Campbell Messing, age 65, of Long Beach, California, concluded his earthly journey and joined his Lord and Savior on November 25th, 2013. Vince was born in the Bronx, New York on October 12, 1948, and at age three, moved to California.
Vince built a successful career in the real estate industry and became a legend in his field in the Long Beach area. "Time Tested Reliability You Can Count On" was Vince's slogan, and for over thirty years, he practiced real estate with honesty and integrity. But real estate did not define Vince Messing. Real estate became the vehicle for Vince to connect with the Long Beach community. Vince was a volunteer and an active supporter in Project Shepherd, Habitat for Humanity, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Northern Lights Children's Care, and enjoyed dressing up as Santa for the annual Christmas dinner at St. Mary's Care Clinic.
Vince Messing was a devoted husband to Andrea, and a loving father to his son Aaron, Aaron's fiancé Lauren, and daughter Adrienne. He welcomed stepchildren, Chad and Cami to his family and was blessed with seven grandchildren, Joe, Ella, Carly, Riley, Connor, Alexa, and Brooke.
Vince enjoyed hosting barbecues and pool parties for family and friends, reading scripture, tending to his vegetable garden, traveling, playing classical guitar, fishing, and golf.
"Never less than magnificent," was Vince's response when he was asked "How are you doing today?" When paired with his warm handshake and honest blue eyes, it was hard for anyone to ever disagree.
Vince's spiritual journey lead him to the Cornerstone Church where he sang in the church choir and became a prayer warrior in the men's ministry known as the "Band of Brothers." Vince's favorite bible verse was Psalm 23. It concludes, "Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever."
To celebrate the life of Vince Messing, a memorial service will be held at Cornerstone Church, 1000 N Studebaker Rd, Long Beach, CA 90815 on December 9th at 11:00 AM. Please sign the guestbook at www.luyben familyd-m.com

I remember Vince when he began his real estate career in Long Beach. I was just a kid, but I remember him visiting door to door and my mom, Priscilla Mixon, talking with him. He was always very kind and you knew it was genuine. Roxanne Ave. would not have been the same without him! My condolences to his family.

How sad! We had not seen Vincent for quite a number of years, but recall a trip to California in the 80's. Vincent welcomed us into his home and was a very warm and gracious host during our brief stay. What a kind and generous sole he was. Not many like that come along in this life.
Go with God Vince! It was our pleasure to have known you.

Very sad to hear of Vince's passing. He was a kind and generous person whose presence in the neighborhood was always both reassuring and stabilizing in ways that can't quite be articulated in words. I remember that he used to hire my son to deliver fliers in the neighborhood years ago. He was always passionate about the ranchos, rancho living and a devoted member of the community. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Next years Fourth of July weekend will be a sad one, as I know the flags that he used to post in every ones lawn will be missing. A few months ago we got to spend an hour at one of his open houses ,just down the street from us, recalling the past 30 year and how our paths crossed numerous times as he nurtured his area. I can imagine he is already working on his next open house or garage sale weekend at his new heavenly home. I even confess to him I still have one of his dog signs from many years ago..he just laughed . That is what I will always remember most about him, his warmth and smile that always put you at ease and felt you were talking to a friend.
