Viola Acrivos

August 16, 1926 - July 8, 2012
Viola Aida Rudin Rodriguez Acrivos, age 85, of Old Fort, NC, former long time resident of Melbourne, Port St. John and Indialantic, FL and Great Falls, VA, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012 at her residence.

Viola was born August 16, 1926 in Los Cartagos, Alajuela, Costa Rica to the late Fernando M. Rudin and Angela Rodriguez Rudin. She attended University of Costa Rica and Ohio State University in 1945. She worked as a stewardess for Costa Rican Airlines TACA in 1947. On April 28, 1947, Viola married Harold Nicholas Acrivos (retired US Army Major), in San Salvador, El Savador. She was born Swiss, naturalized Costa Rican and then naturalized American in 1949. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Old Fort and 7th Day Adventist Church of Marion. Viola was a master gardener, planting and caring for her plants at Catawba Falls Campground, where she lived with her son.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Harold Nicholas Acrivos (died October 20, 1987); one son, Eric R. Acrivos; and one daughter, Evelyn Acrivos.

Surviving Viola are one son, Richard Acrivos of Old Fort, NC; three daughters, Marsha Acrivos Thomas of Sterling, VA, Carol Waldron of Albuquerque, NM and Angela Harvey of Belleview, FL; one sister, Angela Rudin Graham of Leavenworth, KS; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
