Virginia E. (Freeze) Abitable, 92, of Reading, passed away peacefully in Berks Heim on Friday, October 4, 2013. She was the loving wife of the late Samuel Abitable. He preceded her in death on November 9, 1999.
Born in Pottsville on October 30, 1920, Virginia was a daughter of the late James W. and Florence E. (Saylor) Freeze. She was a 1938 Reading High School graduate. Virginia was employed with CNA for 27 years as an accounting clerk before retiring in 1978. She was a faithful member of St. Mark's UCC in Reading.
Surviving are two children, Susan J. Wagner and her husband, Conrad of Reading, and Raymond L. Bickley III and his wife, Cynthia A. of Wyomissing; seven grandchildren, Denise M. Daniels and her husband, Vincent of Schwenksville; Rebecca E. Bickley of CA; Raymond L. Bickley IV and his wife, Marcia of Leesport; Jarrod J. Bickley of Houtzdale; William B. Bickley of West Reading; Dr. Laura P. Bamford and her husband, Matt Stutzeman of Wayne; and Julia T. Gesuale of Tampa, FL; 11 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Alivia, Jarrod James, Jacob, Sophia, Owen, Emma Hannah, Emma, Michele and Rachael; and one great-grandson, Bradley. Also surviving is a sister, Florence E. Lowery of Leipsic, OH.
In addition to her husband, Samuel; Virginia is also predeceased by a grandson, Chad M. Danko.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2013 in Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd. Reading. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home, Thursday, from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow services in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's UCC, 211 Greenwich St. Reading, PA 19601.
