Virginia Barnes Mathews passed away December 30, 2012 in Austin Texas. She was born January 22, 1924 to Randall and Gertrude Barnes in Beaumont Texas.
She graduated from Vidor High School in 1941 and married Adam D. Mathews in 1943. After high school she began a long career as a legal secretary, court reporter, and before retirement in 1991 as personal secretary to Judge Jack Brookshire, Associate Justice for the Ninth District Court of Appeals in Jefferson County
She is survived by her daughter Trudy Evans and husband John Evans of Austin, grandsons and their families; Grant Evans and Vanessa Russell-Evans, Marc Evans and Reanna Welch, and 2 great grandsons; Campbell and Mason. Her bright spirit and generous heart will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.
A gathering of family and friends will begin on Saturday, January 5, 2013, from 11:00-12:00 p.m. with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
