CONCORD - Virginia P. Nelson, age 86, died on February 2 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Concord after a brief illness.
She was born in Reynoldsville, Georgia in 1926 to Eddie S. and Myrtle Barber Poitivent. She was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School in Bainbridge, Georgia, Class of 1943.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stewart Nelson, Jr. in 2009, her three brothers, Eddie Poitevint, Royce Poitevint, and Seab Poitevint. She is survived by her children and their spouses Georgia Osterc, Penny Young, Charlie Nelson, and Janet McManus, and her nine grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.
Virginia was a bank bookkeeper prior to her marriage. She was the volunteer camp registrar at Camp Good News for numerous years, and active in Child Evangelism Fellowship, a member of the Emerson Hill Club, and a sewing teacher and judge for New Hampshire 4-H. She was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church of Concord, NH.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be on Wednesday, February 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street, Concord. (If using a GPS use 3 Church St.). The funeral will be at Trinity Baptist Church, 80 Clinton St., Concord, on Thursday, February 7 at 10:30 am. Interment services will be held at Blossom Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to The Austin Home, 532 White Plains Rd., Webster, NH 03303, where she spent her last wonderful year on the lake.
