Vonetta C. Abraham
Mrs. Abraham, 85, of Charlotte, NC passed away on April 12, 2012 at CMC-Main. She was born on May 27, 1926 in York County, SC, a daughter of the late Walter and Myrtle Williams Clanton; and beloved wife of the late Robert Abraham who died in 1984. She was also preceded in death by sister, Sybil Williams and brother, Walter Clanton, Jr.
Vonetta graduated from the Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1948 and went on to obtain a master's degree in nursing from UNCC. She worked at Carolinas Medical Center for 46 years as a Registered Nurse, and as a trainer in the education department. She volunteered for the Red Cross for many years; and was a long-time member of Park Road Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two children, a daughter, Sheila Abraham of Charlotte, NC and a son, David Abraham , and grandson Nicholas, both of North Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters, Ruth Neal of Matthews, NC and June Covington of Lowell, NC; and niece Lisa Starnes and nephew Cliff Covington.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2012 at Harry & Bryant Company, "Chapel in the Oaks", 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte, with the Reverend Russ Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 15th at the funeral home.
