William Edward (Ed) Bryan, 85, of Clearwater met his Lord on Nov. 19, 2013, after a sudden illness. Ed was the son John L. Bryan and Alma S. Bryan. He was born in Orlando, Fl. and moved to Tampa as a youth. He graduated from Plant High School and later, from the University of Florida with a degree in Business Administration. He served in the United States Coast Guard and the United States Naval Reserve, Intelligence Division, retiring in 1988. In 1968, he opened his own accounting company which is now known as Bryan Financial Services.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Emily, and two sons, Ed, Jr., and his wife, Patty, and John and his wife, Amy. Ed is also survived by his sister, Marcelle Thomas of Tampa, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy McClure of Columbus, Ga. He has six grandchildren; Jillian, Andrew, Matthew, Rachel, Daniel, and Zackery; one great granddaughter, Emily Jane, and six nieces and nephews.
Ed was active in his church, having served in many capacities: Deacon, Elder, Stewardship Campaigns, Foundation Trustee, and the Trinity Choir. He was physically active throughout his life: water and snow skiing, marathon runs, hiking and biking with the Silver Riders. Gardening was a great source of pleasure to him. His dedication to our Armed Forces was unfailing. He loved many people and organizations: the Plant High Panthers and life long friends from Tampa; the Florida Gators and Kappa Alpha Fraternity; many civic and social groups: Kiwanis, the Sohos, the RCAS, and the Searchers Sunday School Class, and volunteering at the Carlisle Imaging Center was important to him. Above all, he loved God and his family.
A Celebration of his life service will held at 2:00 Dec. 2, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2001 Rainbow Drive, Clearwater, Fl. 33765. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Emily, you may not remember me but I was in the Naval Reserve intelligence unit with Ed for many years. He and I went on several training exercises together. He was a good man and the world is a much better place because of him. My deepest condolences. Bill Lindall

Even though you are my Father-In-Law, I always felt our relationship was a wonderful friendship. I shared your love of the garden and always called you about the weather. When the family came together, visiting, we always had a good time whether it was playing "spoons" or "uno," great laughs were had by all! I will miss your southern hospitality, you were always such a gentleman. God has a new angel, take care of us from above.
love,
your daughter in law
