William Russell "Bill" Taber
Irmo – William Russell "Bill" Taber of Irmo, SC, formerly of Dover, MA, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013. Born in Paterson, NJ, June 5, 1928, he was a son of the late Dr. Leslie R. and Orrell Bond Taber.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Chatterton Taber; son, Wesley D. Taber and his wife, Elaine, of Columbia, SC and daughter, Dale C. O'Keefe, and her husband, John O'Keefe, of Irmo, SC; grandchildren, Daniel, Lauren and Andrea Taber; brothers, Bond Taber of Cameron, NC and John M. Taber of Sloatsburg, NY. He was predeceased by his sister, Dr. Elizabeth Taber Pierce.
Bill attended Brown University and was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was employed with Bristol Myers Squibb as a District Manager and Regional Sales Trainer for twenty-eight years. Bill was also an agent for Bankers Life & Casualty Company. For twenty-five years, he was a Hospice Volunteer with the VNA of Needham, MA. He was a thirty-year member and Deacon of the Dover church and presently was a member of Seven Oaks Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed boating on Narraganset Bay and spending time with family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Harborchase and Sterling House for their loving care.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Seven Oaks Presbyterian Church, 530 St. Andrews Rd., Columbia, SC. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Lighthouse Hospice Group, 110 Oak Park Dr., Irmo, SC 29063.
