Wanda Rose Baker, age 82, of West Salem, IL passed into Eternity on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her family. Wanda was born January 14, 1930 in Foosland, IL to Opal (Marshall) and William Middleton. She married Wilford "Bud" Baker in 1950 in Casper, Wyoming and he preceded her in death on May 17, 2012.
Wanda was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and a member of the First Christian Church of West Salem. She was an excellent seamstress and was also well known for her baking and candy making abilities. Wanda enjoyed making ceramics and working crossword puzzles. She loved watching a variety of sports and was an avid University of Kentucky and Atlanta Braves fan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters: Willa Monday and Gladys Preston; and step-father, Leo Carbone. She is survived by her son Gene (Terri Wedding) Baker of Jeffersonville, IN and three sisters: Audrey Hudson of Parkersburg, IL, Lois Stepp of Ironton, OH, and Jeanie Rohkohl of Lake Havasu City, AZ.
Funeral services for Wanda Rose Baker will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 12 Noon at the First Christian Church in West Salem, IL Burial will follow at the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5 to 7 PM at the church, with an Eastern Star service at 7 PM. Visitation will also be held on Friday morning from 11 to service time at Noon.
