Bill Abernathy, 70 years old of Acworth died Saturday, June 26, 2010. Services will be held 2pm Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Kennesaw with Rev. Bill Floyd, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until 2pm at the church.
Born in Thomaston, Ga. Mr. Abernathy proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1958-1962. He retired from Lockheed Aeronautical with 25 years of service. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church where he was an usher; he served on the board of trustees and faithfully served his church and the community at the Daily Bread Food Pantry. Bill was an excellent woodcarver and he loved classic cars and aircrafts. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survived by his Wife – Diana Carol Abernathy of Acworth, his Daughter – Alicia Abernathy Mayes and his Granddaughter – Amber Alyse Mayes both of Griffin, Ga.
The family is requesting NO FLOWERS, please! In lieu of flowers, Bill would have been very pleased for donations to go to the Shiloh Food Pantry which was so near to his heart.
Interment will be at the Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
