William J. "Bill" Brown, 79, a resident of East Brainerd, passed away Saturday July 12, 2014. Bill was born December 26, 1934 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Silas and Nora Brown. He was founder and owner of Bill Brown Trucking in Ooltewah, TN and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He was also a member of the American Trucking Association and the American Truck Historical Society, a supporter of the George W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum, a member of the Morris Hill Baptist Church, and a graduate of Tyner High School.
Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Catherine S. Queen Brown; daughter Terri Brown (Glenn) Smith; son Dewayne W. (Connie) Brown; step-daughter, Susan Durand (Ray) Bible and step-son, Rick (Susan) Durand; nine granddaughters and one grandson; six great-grandsons and five great-granddaughters; brothers, Paul (Carol) Brown, Donald (Patty) Brown and Bob (Nancy) brown; sister JoAnn Gibbs; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Brown and L.J. Brown; sisters Sarah Brown Ferguson, Norma Brown Wine, Christine Brown Miller and Wilma Brown Fussell.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the East Brainerd Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
