William Junior Beach, 78, of Ames, died Monday, March 22, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel, 607 28th Street, Ames, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Story City Municipal Cemetery, Story City, Iowa.
William Junior Beach was the son of Wm. Jason Beach and Eva L. Shockley. His mother died in child birth and he was raised by his grandparents, Lula and David Shockley of Ames. In 1949, he married Charlotte J. Myers, and two children were born, Ronald and Rita. In 1953, he married C. Marie Beach who predeceased him in 1994.
William was an avid bowler In his younger years. He was an accomplished fisherman and dog lover. He and his friends have many fond fishing memories. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for 25 years before retiring from Bourn's, Inc. in 1991. He will be greatly missed by many friends and neighbors.
