William Dewey, 85, passed away December 31, 2012 at the Golden Crest Nursing Centre surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Apponaug, he was the son of the late Harold Dewey and Loretta Charron-Dewey; husband of 59 years to Louise J. (Barker) Dewey of Cumberland Street, Providence; father of Sheryll A. Dewey of Woonsocket, Nancy J. Abdalla and her husband Jimmy of Lincoln, and Linda M. Dewey of Smithfield. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
William was a retired truck driver for the Local 251 AFL-CIO, M A Gammino Construction Co. and Tilcon Gammino Construction Co. and worked part-time for D'Agostino Motors and Place Motors. He had also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 4-7 p.m. with a funeral service on Friday at 10 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by burial in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
