William Rufus Going, the second child of Emma Hobbs Going and James Laverne Going, was born January 10, 1924, and passed away April 18, 2013. Mr. Going was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Dora Evelyn Elliott Going, whom he married March 17, 1943; and by his parents and brothers James, Paden, Lee, an infant brother, and his beloved step-mother, Mary Artimissia Chastain Going. Mr. Going is survived by: daughter Martha Elaine Going Thomas (and Willie); son Donald Eugene Going (and Ayn); and daughter Claire Yvonne Going Gast (and George). He has grandchildren: Gaye, Greg, Jef, Jessica, Erin and Jay; and great-grandchildren: Chris, Bethany, Mary, Jewel, J.D., Jayce, Juliette, Kelden and Koriana. He also had a great-great-grandson, Cole. Grand-Daughter-in-Law Amy, and Jef's girlfriend Sarah (and son Brody), also survive. His two sisters-in-law, Ruth Going and Sarah Going, both survive. He has many nieces and nephews. Mr. Going was educated at Boys High School in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. He served in the United States Navy aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. Southerland during World War II. He was employed by Southern Railway for over forty years. Formerly a member and Elder of First Christian Church at Forest Park, Georgia, in recent years he was a member of the Forest Park Church of Christ.
