Willie Bernett "Pete" Derrick
CHAPIN – Funeral services for Willie Bernett "Pete" Derrick, 87, of Chapin, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Chapin. Reverend Larry Hagerty will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel.
Born July 7, 1926 to the late Bill and Ruth Bickley Derrick, he passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and proudly served during World War II. Mr. Pete was a life-long resident of Chapin and well known as the owner of Derrick's Phillips 66.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Frances Slice Derrick; his children, Mary Ann Bouknight, Shirley (Ricky) Lindler, Larry (Susan) Derrick, Brenda (Donnie) Slice and Tommy Derrick; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; siblings, "Slick" and Rothell Derrick and Judy Price.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Whitey Derrick and sister, Pattie Krell.
