Wm. Walter Smith, Jr.

Wm. Walter Smith, Jr., a former longtime Cockeysville resident and a retired Baltimore County Police Sergeant, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 12, 2012. He was 92. Walter was born on March 24, 1920 to parents William Walter Smith, Sr. and Juanita Clarissa Smith (nee Jones) in Phoenix, MD. Mr. Smith liked to play sports, hunt and fish. He attended Towson High School.

After working and retiring from Baltimore County Police Department with 20 years of dedicated service. Mr. Smith began to work at Franklin Square Hospital with their grounds crew only wanting to cut grass and take care of the grounds. While working with the hospital, he was promoted to the Chief of security and fire protection. Once Mr. Smith decided to truly retire after 10yrs., he and Sammie, his beloved and loving wife, moved to St. Michael's where they enjoyed their 20 yr. vacation.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife Sammie E. Smith and his son Wm. Walter Smith, III. He is survived by his devoted and cherished daughter Juanita Crook and her husband Roy; dear brother of Ernest Eugene Smith; also survived by loving brother and sister-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews; and the world's best grand dog Trooper.

The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, MD 21093 on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM with a Masonic Service at 8pm.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Monday, July 16 at 11AM.
