Yvette T. (Champagne) Ashley, age 84, of Swansea died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Norman E. Ashley.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Maxim and Adel (Chagnon) Champagne, she lived in Swansea for over 50 years. A tailor and seamstress, Mrs. Ashley operated out of her home all her life and also taught sewing in the adult education program at Case High School for 10 years.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Dominic's Church, a member of the church choir, the Fatima Society, Women's Guild and a recipient of the Marion Medal.
Surviving: Daughters: Maxine Connell and her husband Harold of Assonet, Norma Mc Nally and her husband Brian of Swansea, Sons: James T. Ashley and his wife Anne of Swansea, William A. Ashley and his wife Marilyn of Rock Hill, SC, Charles W. Ashley and his wife Lori of Swansea, Grandchildren: Trevor, Jill, Ean, Alexa, Kevin, Steven, Ellen, Christine, Sean, Courtney, Noah and Nicole, 8 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was mother of the late Patricia L. Ashley and sister of the late Raymond "Norman" St. Laurent.
Her funeral will be held Friday, July 9, 2010 at 8AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea followed by a funeral mass at 9:00 AM in St. Dominic's Church, 1277 GAR Highway, Swansea.
