HENRY, ZACHARY "ZACH" ADOLPHUS, SR. – age 83 of Corryton, TN, went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, while resting in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born April 25, 1930, in Stockbridge, Georgia, where he grew up, Zach was the youngest son of the late Walter Raleigh Henry, Sr. and Annie Lou Flake Henry. He received degrees in Agricultural Engineering from The University of Georgia (B.S.), Clemson University (M.S.), and North Carolina State University (Ph.D.). Zach was active in his community serving Corryton Church as a Bible Teacher and Deacon since moving to Knox County in 1961. A devoted Christian and Gideon, he was never afraid to share his faith at home or in mission opportunities abroad. A tenured Professor, Dr. Zach Henry, retired from the University of Tennessee in 1999 after 38 years on the teaching and research faculties in the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department. He also served as a visiting Professor in Thailand and Japan. Additionally, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. Since 2006, he served as a Commissioner with the Luttrell Blaine Corryton Utility District. In "retirement", Zach started his own business, the House Mountain Christmas Tree Farm, which, over the years, became a hobby of love as he donated more trees than he sold. Zach was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, four brothers, and one granddaughter. Leaving a lasting legacy, he is survived by his loving wife, Norma R. Taylor Henry and their children/spouses, Zachary A. Henry, Jr. of Leonardtown, MD; Lydia and Steve Glafenhein of Corryton, TN; Lynn and Jack Douglas Moore of Chuluota, FL; Nathan and Melissa Henry of Corryton, TN; Stephen and Suzanne Henry of Lexington, SC; and all their families including 28 grandchildren and one great-grandson. In addition, Zach is survived by three sisters, one brother, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. The family will receive friends at Corryton Church, 7615 Foster Road, Corryton, TN from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013 with a life celebration service to follow at 7:00. Graveside services with Military Honors will be 10 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2013, at Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 West Adair Dr, Knoxville, TN.
