Zola Irene (Brooks) Humphrey passed from this life on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the age 92.
She was born August 11, 1920 in Dustin, Oklahoma to Paul and Ola (Stephens) Brooks.
She moved to Oklahoma City in 1959 where she made her home until her death.
Zola was a bookkeeper for the Oklahoma Tax Commission and an auditor for the Oklahoma Motor Vehicles Division, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed the work and especially the people.
She was Treasurer for the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for several years in the 1960's, and a member of the Easter Star, Harmony Chapter 371, receiving her 50 year pin in 2005.
Zola had a serious problem with alcohol for 25 years. She joined Alcoholics Anonymous on August 11, 1970, and remained a friend of Bill W. for over 42 years. She sponsored many people including a large group who call themselves "Zola's Boys." She devoted many years to carrying the message to inmates at Lexington Prison.
Zola loved her little family dearly, showing pictures and speaking of them often.
Zola was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Irene Philpott, and grandson Rick Philpott, both of Elm Springs,
Arkansas. She is survived by Granddaughters Pam Marchant and husband Donnie of Elm Springs, Arkansas, and Francis Warren and husband Charlie, of Dewey, Oklahoma, five great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
