Alvin Ross (A.R.) Vinson, 86, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at his home in Abilene. A memorial service will be held at 2:00p.m., on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. with Ronnie Hendon officiating.
A.R. was born in Jones County, TX to the late Elbert Ross Vinson and Mary V. Eoff Vinson on October 28, 1930. He served in the U.S. Marines for 2 years. After the service he worked at Pay Master Feeds for 33 years. He then went to work at Abilene Regional Airport Parking for 15 years before retiring in 2002. A.R. married Peggy Jo Walsh in Anson, TX on July 17, 1954.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; and three brothers. Survivors include a son, Fred Vinson and wife, Wanda; daughters, Sharon Wilkins and Shirley Vinson all of Abilene; brother, Kenneth Vinson and wife, Kathy of Hawley; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
