A.T. Barker Obituary

A.T. Barker, 92, passed away Tuesday evening May 6 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 10 at Alexander United Methodist Church with Rev. Sam Cutrone officiating. Interment will follow at George Cemetery in Madison County. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church.

A.T. was born May 11, 1921 in George, Madison County, Texas the son of John Lewis and Ella Mae (Baines) Barker. He proudly served our country during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corps. A.T. worked in sales for American Laundry Uniform Services, which changed names to Texas Industrial Services and retired after 31 years of service. After his retirement he drove and transferred cars to dealerships and rental agencies. A.T. was a member of Alexander United Methodist Church and American Legion Earl Graham Post 159.

A.T. is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mildred Ball.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty J. Barker of Bryan; sons and daughter-in-law, Brian T. and Lynette Barker of Kyle, Greg L. Barker of Bryan; brother and sister-in-law, Billy Joe and Margie Barker of Helotes; sister, Artie Geneva Wolfert of Hampton Bays, NY; granddaughter, Tiffany Lyn Barker of San Marcos; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to George Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 832, Normangee, Texas 77871.

Dora Loria

A.T. was a true and loyal friend. I am forever grateful to him and Betty for picking me up at the hospital in Austin, bringing me home and taking me back to Austin for check-ups. He was always there if he was needed!. He will be greatly missed!

Thelston was our uncle. We always enjoyed visiting with him as he was so
