Abraham Altschuler, 82, of Manchester died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at his home. He was born and raised in Asbury Park, NJ and lived in Tinton Falls for 9 years before moving to Manchester 10 years ago. Mr. Altschuler was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans Post 569. He was an educator for the Neptune Township Board of Education for 20 years. He worked as a teacher, Vice Principal and eventually Principal. He was also a respected member of gamblers anonymous for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of 20 years; his son, Michael Altschuler of Ocean, NJ; his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Danny DePasquale of Montclair, NJ; his two step sons and daughter-in-law, Adam and Tina Potolsky of Freehold, NJ and David Potolsky of Lakewood, NJ; his brother, Dr. Stanley Altschuler of Cherry Hill, NJ; his sister, Bess Hopard of Long Branch, NJ; his four grandchildren, Stephanie Altschuler, Eric Altschuler, Dante DePasquale and Laurel DePasquale.
Services are 10:00am Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ with internment to follow at Chesed Shel Emes Cemetery, Neptune, NJ. Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean Twp. is in charge of arrangements.
