Obituary for Abraham Zuckerman Abraham Zuckerman, 89, of Livingston,, NJ died peacefully on Thursday December 12, 2013. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today December 13 at the JEC, Elmora Ave, Elizabeth, NJ. Arrangements made by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman, Livingston, NJ. Mr. Zuckerman was born in Cracow, Poland and was a Holocaust survivor. He was interned in six concentration camps, including Plaszow, Mauthausen, Gusen and Gusen II and was survived by Oscar Schindler. Abraham Zuckerman, 89, of Livingston,, NJ died peacefully on Thursday December 12, 2013.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today December 13 at the JEC, Elmora Ave, Elizabeth, NJ. Arrangements made by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman, Livingston, NJ.

Mr. Zuckerman was born in Cracow, Poland and was a Holocaust survivor. He was interned in six concentration camps, including Plaszow, Mauthausen, Gusen and Gusen II and was survived by Oscar Schindler. He spent four years after liberation in Displaced Persons Camp in Bindermichl, Austria where he met and married his wife Millie, a fellow survivor.

Mr. Zuckerman immigrated to the United States in 1949 and was a founding member, along with Isak Levenstein and Murray Pantirer, fellow survivors, of LPZ Associates a real estate development company which he headed for more than 63 years.

Mr. Zuckerman was a member of the board of the Americans Getting a Holocaust Survivors, a founding member of the Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies, a trustee of the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City, a fellow of Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, a founding member of the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC.

Mr. Zuckerman was a founding member of the Holocaust Resource Center at Kean University, former president of the Jewish Education Center of Elizabeth, and a supporter of the Jerusalem Foundation, the New Cracow Society and the Rabbinical College of America from which he an Honorary Doctor of Laws.

Mr. Zuckerman authored A Voice in the Chorus, a moving testimony of the courage and resilience of the human race and a tribute to his many friends and relatives who did not survive. He devoted himself to memorializing Oscar Schindler's noble acts by naming streets in more than 25 communities throughout New Jersey and the tri-state area.

Mr. Zuckerman is survived by his wife Millie of 66 years, his daughter Ann and son-in-law Bernard Sklar, his daughter Ruth and son-in-law Steven Katz, his son Wayne and daughter-in-law Deborah, twelve grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
