Adam C. Salazar Jr., age 63, died at home with his family by his side on Saturday, July 7, 2012 in Houston, Texas. He was born on December 14, 1948 in Houston. Adam married his sweetheart, Rose Marie Mendez, on February 13, 1971, and together they raised four children. As a Vietnam Combat Veteran in the United States Army, 4th Infantry Division, Adam received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals. He volunteered his time assisting his fellow veteran brothers and various veteran associations. He was awarded a Proclamation from the City of Houston's Mayor and Chief of Police for saving a Houston police officer's life. When he worked as an independent business owner, he was politically active in the community and the Southwest Voters Registration Drive. He loved the Lord and came to know him as a young boy and relied on his faith in Jesus during his life's trials. Adam will always be remembered as a big teaser and a very outgoing and outspoken man with a big heart and willingness to help anyone in need. He was a proud Texan, enjoyed cooking BBQ, and loved to talk with friends and family. Known for his green thumb, he enjoyed spending time in his garden and often won neighborhood Yard of the Month awards. Every year, Adam looked forward to decorating his home for the holidays and seeing the reaction of his grandkids with his festive light displays. What meant most to him was spending time with his family and we will forever cherish those moments. Adam is reunited with his father, Adam G. Salazar Sr., and his son, Paul Anthony Salazar. He leaves to continue his legacy of life and love, his devoted wife of 41 years, Rose Marie Salazar; two sons, Adam Salazar III and wife Rochelle, David C. Salazar and wife Donalisha; daughter, Evelyn M. Salazar; seven grandchildren, Lauren, Antonio, Joseph, Sofia, Savannah, Samuel, and Soledad and numerous relatives and dear friends. You are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Adam's Life at Noon in the Chapel of Pat H. Foley & Company. He will be laid to rest next to his son, Paul, at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery with full military honors.
