Agnes was born June 6, 1920 to the Rev. William H. and Nellie Lee (Hill) Cole in Waco, Texas and was the second baby to be born at Hillcrest Hospital. She was the oldest of four children in a close family. From her youth she was an active participant in Christian programs. She furthered her education at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, becoming a Registered Nurse and serving as an Ensign in the Navy during WWII. Subsequently, she attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas. While there she met Frederick William "Ted" Britt. They were married in Dallas, in September of 1948. Agnes continued her career as an RN working for VA hospitals until retirement. She was a member of Austin Avenue United Methodist Church beginning in June of 1961 and was a member of the Friendship Sunday School class. Agnes was a member and past president of the Emerson Club where her grandmother and mother were among the founding members.

Agnes was also a great mother. Her family was her life and she instilled her life values in each of her children. She leaves a great legacy of affection and determination. A recent highlight of her life was the Britt/Cole family reunion, which gave her the opportunity to see almost all of her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred, and brother, Hugh.

Agnes will be missed and loved by her children, Bob Britt and wife Marjorie, of Houston, Alan Britt and his wife Kathy, of China Spring, Ricky Britt and his wife Belinda, of Safford, Ariz., and Dale Britt and his partner Brian Le Maire, of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her brothers Ed Cole and Dr. Richard Cole; her nieces, nephews and other relatives.
