NORWICH – Alan G. Evanuk, 67, died unexpectedly at L&M Hospital in New London on Saturday.
He was born on July 24, 1950 in Norwich to the late Michael and Katherine (Armenakas) Evanuk Jr. After graduating N.F.A. in 1968 he joined the US Navy serving during the Vietnam War until receiving his Honorable Discharge.
Alan and his life-long partner Debbie Crowe soon began their journey together which transcended more than 40 years as they grew their family. Alan worked for 43 years at Electric Boat as a Tool Crib Attendant. He was a hard worker and dedicated to his job but even more so to living for his family. His word was his bond and he walked an honorable path through life.
Besides his love Debbie, he is also survived by his children; Michael & wife Tina Crowe of Norwich, Jill and husband Matthew Gural of Yantic, Kimberly and husband Charles Adams of Norwich, Cassie Evanuk of Norwich, brother; Larry Evanuk of Salem, 11 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his beloved Chihuahua, "Big-Boy" who brought him much joy.
Visitation will be held Friday evening Sept 15th from 5pm – 8pm with Trisagion Prayer Service at 5 at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Av., Norwich, CT. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Sept. 16th at 10am meeting directly at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 247 Washington St., Norwich. Interment with Military Honors will immediately follow at Maplewood Cemetery, 184 Salem Tnpk. Norwich, CT.
