Alan was an avid Boston sports fan, a loyal citizen of the "Red Sox Nation". He also loved all kinds of music, especially Elvis Presley. After retirement, he fulfilled a life-long dream by moving to Cape Cod, his favorite place on earth since childhood.

Alan is survived by Jane and their five children, Ahren Hemberger, Christian Hemberger and wife, Laura, Corey Hemberger, John Hemberger and fiancée, Amber Smith, and Daniel Hemberger and wife, Brittany; grandchildren, Spencer, Jett, and Rebekah, with another grandson on the way; brothers, Richard Hemberger and wife, Mary Lou, and William Hemberger and wife, Susan; several nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Alan would have been pleased to have donations made to Purple Heart or the Wounded Warriors Project.
