Alan Monas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 18, 2013.

Alan Monas, 61, a 29 year resident of Hudson, NH passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 25, 1951 in Nashua, NH, a son of the late Anthony Monas.

Al loved riding motorcycles and in his youth was an avid dirt bike racer. He enjoyed the beach and just being outdoors as well as watching and going to NASCAR races and working out lifting weights. For the past eight years he has been employed by Motorcycles of Manchester. He enjoyed his job there and loved talking to customers, young and old, about their motorcycle experiences. In January, MOMS threw a benefit for Al at the Elks Club in Nashua to celebrate his many years in the motorcycle community. Al will be missed by many, he was always there to help if you needed an extra hand to fix or move something.

He is survived by his longtime partner of 20 years; Tammy Curran of Hudson, three children; Kristen (Monas) Dalton and her husband Ed of Litchfield, Alan Monas, Jr. of Nashua and Shelby Monas of Hudson, a step-son; Craig Curran, two grandchildren; Amber and Skylar Dalton, three siblings; Judy (Monas) Tyrrell and her husband Norman of Londonderry, Carol Monas of Nashua and Steven Monas and his wife Joanne of Nashua. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

Visiting hours were held Friday, February 22, 2013 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua. A funeral service began at 7:00pm Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Pine Haven Boys Center Foundation, 133 River Road, P.O. Box 162, Allenstown, NH 03275.

I did not have the great opportunity to meet Al but from what I was told he was a fun and caring person. The Monas family members are just an outstanding bunch with so much love and compassion for others. I am sure that Al was the same way and my deepest sympathies go out to his closest ones.
