Albert T. Kingan Jr., age 86 of Clarksville, died Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
He was born June 13, 1930 in Clarksville, a son of the late Albert T. Kingan Sr. and Hannah Moore Kingan.
Mr. Kingan served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was a retired coal miner from the former Pitt Gas Coal Mine, Cannon Coal.
Mr. Kingan lived in Clarksville all of his life, where he had served as a borough councilman for more than 20 years, Pitt Gas Missionary Church, United Mine Workers of America Local 2356, where he had also been the financial secretary, the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson and the Waynesburg Moose Lodge #461, Waynesburg.
Albert touched many people, from helping his friends and neighbors with handyman jobs to mowing grass or repairing lawn mowers. He helped and participated in Clarksville Days and hanging the Christmas street lights. He never meet a stranger and would talk to everyone. He especially appreciated the special care from the staff at Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Morgantown.
On July 6, 1954 he married Kathleen "Toots" Tretinik, who died December 19, 2016.
Surviving are three daughters, Cindy Beabout of Morgantown, WV, Kathy (William) Ritz of Carmichaels, and Patti (Duane) Tennant of Carmichaels; six grandchildren, Emily (Kyle) Butler, Allison Beabout (Jeff Lapkowicz), Ashlee Ritz (Sean McCombs), Chelsee Ritz, Derrick Tennant, and Brian (Jessica) Tennant; four great grandsons; a sister, Dorothy Cyr of Pitt Gas; and a brother, Jack Kingan of Clarksville.
Deceased is a brother that died in infancy.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 pm Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday, in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce R. Judy officiating. A private interment will in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson. Condolences may be expressed online at www.behm-funeralhomes.com.
