Albert E. Levak Ph.D. from East Lansing Michigan, died at the age of 91, on March 23, 2013
A long time resident of East Lansing, Albert was a professor at Michigan State University and was a keen Spartan football and basketball fan.
Born in Pittsburg in 1922, Albert grew up in Etna, Pennsylvania. He enlisted and served with the 36th Division, was wounded in combat and discharged in 1945. Albert graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Social Science. He received his Teaching Certificate from Shippensburg State Teacher's College. He obtained his Doctoral degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Michigan State University, where he was a Professor in the Department of Social Sciences. He married Lois Anne Johnson in 1951. She predeceased him in 1994.
Albert is survived by his son and two daughters: Bruce, who lives with his wife Linda in North Carolina; Lisa Messner who lives in Lansing with her husband Jon; and Stina Beach who lives with her husband, Michael in Clarkson, Michigan. Albert is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Christoffer, Nicholas, Amy (Brian), Kim (Chad), Cory, Zachary (Stephanie), and Taylor. He also loved spending time with his 6 great grandchildren: Grace, Annie, Robbie, Alyssa, Jackson, and Aubrie.
A Memorial Service will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave, East Lansing on Thursday, March 28, at 4:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Albert's burial will follow in Cape Cod, Massachusetts at a later date to be determined by the family.
The family of Albert Levak would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Timber Ridge Senior Assisted Living for the care over the last 4 years. They treated Albert like their own family.
