Growing up in Fresno, Albert learned the value of hard work in early childhood. He spent his days picking fruit in the orchards and vineyards with his family, while also finding time to nurture a life-long passion for fishing, riding bikes with his brothers to the San Joaquin River to catch salmon and trout every chance they got.

When World War II began, he joined the 11th Cavalry Regiment and became a proficient rider, only to be transferred to a tank division before being shipped off to Guam in preparation for the Japanese offensive. While in training, he met a beautiful young woman who was working as a waitress in El Centro; they immediately fell in love and the two eloped to Yuma, AZ before Albert was shipped off to Guam and the Philippine Islands.

Albert worked as a postal carrier for 33 years, a job that allowed him to be active and outdoors--his favorite place. After retirement, he spent as much time as possible, traveling with his wife and the "Lung Clan" in motor homes to wherever there were fish to be caught and motorcycle trails to be ridden. He was always busy, and could fix anything that was broken, making him the favorite go-to-guy in the family and neighborhood.

Albert was always loving, generous, and supportive with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

The family would like to thank his caregivers Gloria, Mark, Debra, Jemar, Gina and Dawna from Home Instead Senior Care for their loving support and care during his final days and the people at Optimal Hospice.

Albert was preceded in death by Pat, his wife of 63 years; his brothers, Bill, Alex, Roy, Leland; and sister, Eloise Barker.

He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Bill and Paula Lung of Richland, WA, Carolene Lung Winter and Steve Pugh, Annapolis, MD, Steve and Marcee Lung of Modesto, Ca, Valerie and Victor Swalef of Madera, Ca; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and his sister, Elsie Hein of Fresno.

A Memorial Service will be held at United Christian Church, on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at noon.

Arrangements under the direction of Stephens & Bean Funeral Chapel, Fresno, CA.
