Alberta Stewart Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 11, 2013.

Alberta Jeannette Densford Stewart, Greensburg passed from her earthly body to her heavenly home on Friday, February 8, 2013. She was born March 1, 1920 in Seymour, Indiana to the late William L. and Alma Morsbach Densford. After graduating from Purdue University in 1941 with a B.S in Science, she married her college sweetheart, John A. Stewart on March 14, 1942 in Greensburg, IN. For many years, she was secretary of their family farm, Stewart Seeds. The hallmark of Alberta's life was not a career or professional recognition, but in life she was the ultimate caring person, loving her family and friends and praying for them until the day her home in heaven was ready. She was a believer in Jesus Christ in the most saintly way and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensburg.

Survivors include her husband, John Stewart; daughters Barbara Stewart, Montpelier, VT; Carol (Barry) Wood, Collinsville, TX; Janet (Steve) Gunn, Greensburg, IN; and sons Paul Stewart (Susan Rhodes), Indianapolis, IN; and Jim Stewart (Susan Sturges), Greensburg, IN; fifteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, three sisters, Charlotte Graham, Betty Warner and Ruth Ann Stillwell, preceded her in death. A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon, February 24, 2013 at 2:30 pm, followed by a reception at the church where attendees can visit with family. Pastors Cliff Bunch and David Thompson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the building fund of the First Baptist Church of Greensburg, Hospice of Decatur/Shelby, or the Christian ministry of your choice. Alberta's family extends to her many friends their gratitude for their gracious care and concern. Her family joins Alberta in declaring that there is absolutely VICTORY IN JESUS!

Dear Carol, I was so sorry to learn of the death of your Mom. No matter how old we are, it is still very difficult to lose a parent. Fortunately we have many wonderful memories of our Mom's to keep us smiling for years to come. I am unable to be in Greensburg for the service but keeping all of you in my prayers and sending a big hug your way.
