Alberto Cortez was born on April 8, 1937 in Sebastian, TX and grew up close to San Benito, TX. He later moved to Corpus Cristi, where he met the love of his life, Fernanda Lopez, and they married on February 8, 1959. They raised three boys, built three houses, and enjoyed 58 years of marriage together. After living in Houston, they settled in Conroe TX, where he learned the truth in English and was baptized on September 11, 1971. When the need arose, we was ready and willing to help form the first Spanish group of Jehovah's Witnesses there. He was part of that original congregation for more than 40 years, and served 25 of those as an elder.
Thanks to Jehovah's help, from that first group of 7 publishers, there are now more than 12 congregations in Conroe and the surrounding areas. Although he enjoyed working on his inventions and constantly fixing things, he always felt this was one of his greatest accomplishments. Alberto will always be remembered as a hard working man that loved Jehovah, his family and friends, and of course for his sense of humor.
