Albin Cioch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 5, 2013.

Albin Anthony Cioch
February 20, 1923 – July 3, 2013

On Wednesday morning, July 3, the hand of God reached out for His faithful and loving child, Al, and brought him with Him to his eternal home. He went in peace to be reunited with his wife of 28 years, Elizabeth, his sisters Genny, Nellie, Phyllis and his loving brother Constance. He leaves behind a son, Tom Newlon step-children Beverly Hartigan and Roy Schwarzer as well as two loving sisters, Eleanor Palys and Nancy Piontkowski. He also leaves behind several grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews and many wonderful friends whose lives he touched with his sense of humor, kind-hearted gestures and zest for life.

Al was born in Wilbraham, Massachusetts in 1923. At the age of 20, he enlisted in the US Army where he spent 2&1/2 years serving in WWII in transportation and supplies in North Africa and later as an Army Ranger in Europe, in both Italy and France. He earned several medals of accommodation for his service and was honorably discharged in late 1945.

Upon his return to the States after the war he started and sold a fuel delivery business in Wilbraham, Massachusetts. In 1948, he left Massachusetts and moved to Southern California where he became a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union and worked in the HVAC business for over 35 years, retiring in 1983.

Al's passion for travel led him and Elizabeth all over the world, including Asia, the Middle East, Europe and South & Latin America. In addition, they both loved the sea and logged-in over 70 cruises all over the world during their 28 years together.

In 1992, Al left California and Moved to Florida where he spent the final 21 years of his life. He loved to golf and was a very active member of the Kings Isle Golf and Men's Club in Port St. Lucie, FL. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and had a passion for dancing and investing.

He was a very devout Catholic, serving at Eucharistic Minister at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie and was a very active member of the Knights Of Columbus. He was a man of strong faith and was duly rewarded by his Creator with a very peaceful and pain-free transition and now resides with God and His Children.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either Hospice of St. Lucie County or St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie. A Celebration of his Life will be held at The Aycock Funeral Home in Port St. Lucie on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 6:00-8:00. With a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church at 10:00am. Inurnment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce, FL.
