Aldon "Al" Clark Cook, 79, of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Etta Suzanna "Sue" Olah Cook for fifty-eight years.
Born February 5, 1938 in Litwar, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Edith Marie Thornsberry Cook and was also preceded in death by one brother, Ed Cook and two sisters, Tessie Utterback and Jane Mace. Mr. Cook was a retired U.S. Navy veteran and also retired from B&W / Framatone / Areva.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Cook is survived by his daughter, Joyce A. Martin and husband Allen of Powhatan; four brothers, Ted Cook and wife Wanda of Richmond, Lewis Cook and Ricky Cook and wife Terri, both of Williamsburg, and Joe Cook of Zionsville, IL; a sister, Betty Lester and husband Clinton of Cumberland, OH; two grandchildren, Christopher Cook and Shannon Christopher and a great grandson, Spencer Cook.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. John Boyles officiating.
Entombment with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow at the Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Family and friends are invited to American Legion Post 16, 1301 Greenview Drive, Lynchburg, following the entombment.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider American Legion Post 16, 1301 Greenview Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
