I took a History of Education lecture hall course at Stony Brook many years ago with Dr. Baskin: his lively, humorous, energetic, and highly effective teaching style very much influenced my own as a now Professor Emerita of English. Please accept my condolences: I noted Dr. Baskn's passing in today's NY Times. Joan K. Ray, Ph.D. (grad of SUNY Stony Brook, BA 1972)
