To the Tulinsky Family, our father and husband, Emilio "Marc" Marcolongo, played football with Beloved Al and dear Bill Paullin at South Philadelphia High School in the school's championship years of the 1940's, and they and the entire team truly played and loved one another as brothers. Bill also has written a beautiful and poignant message of condolences and good memories of a great quarterback and gentleman, Dr. Al Tulinsky. Marc passed away last August 8, and we know how much he cherished his friendship with Al. He would want us to express his sympathy to you and emphasize what a wonderful person he was. Marc was in awe of Al's intellect as much as his athletic prowess, and no matter the many years that passed, always remembered Al so fondly.
On Marc's behalf, please know that we shall remember your dear Al in our prayers. May he rest in eternal peace, and we know that the Good Lord has welcomed Al, Marc, all the deceased members of that special Southern High team, and your loved ones who have already passed on, into the Father's Kingdom of Eternal Peace and Joy. We can only imagine their happiness at seeing one another again for eternity!
God bless you all during this sorrowful time in your lives,
Rita, Steven and Lois Marcolongo

My family and I were so sorry to hear of Doc's passing. I feel so fortunate to have had Doc as my PhD and later post-doc advisor. He was a terrific scientist and a force of nature in the lab, and it was fun to see him get passionate about protein crystallography, blood coagulation proteins, and MSU and Detroit sports. He was also a very kind man, and this side of him I got to see more of after I left the lab. We visited with him last August, and he was so at peace - telling us about his granddaughter Grace, and how he felt he had lived a good, full life. I know Doc was ready to join Marge and Bill. God bless you Doc, and may you be at peace. Love, Tim Rydel

I am so sorry to hear of Doc's passing. I was one of his grad students from 1978-83, and always found him to be a great role model. I owe my whole professional approach to research to his mentoring. He also mentored living a balanced life. We didn't see a lot of him during duck season! But he always stopped in at the beginning or end of the day to check in with us. He will be missed. - Jim Gaier (MSU '83)

It was through our mother's time at the Willows, that our family got to know and love this truly amazing gentle man. His passions, his kindness to all, his quick wit, his life stories, and his deep love for his granddaughter captivated all of us every time we were able to spend time with him. He educated us over and over on the new MSU FRIB (in a way we could actually understand and appreciate its purpose) and he genuinely connected with each of us, especially our dad. He touched our hearts and will live forever in our spirit. We love you Al - give our mom a hug for us.
