Alfred W. "Curly" Allen, 75, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, January 26, at Memorial Medical Center. Curly was born October 11, 1936 in McLeansboro, IL, the son of James and Effie (Neal) Allen. He graduated from Norris City High School in 1955, then from the University of Illinois with a Degree in Business Management. Curly proudly served our country from 1959-1961, as a Radio Teletype Operator, with the Third Armored Division of The U.S. Army. Alfred W. "Curly" Allen, 75, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, January 26, at Memorial Medical Center. Curly was born October 11, 1936 in McLeansboro, IL, the son of James and Effie (Neal) Allen. He graduated from Norris City High School in 1955, then from the University of Illinois with a Degree in Business Management. Curly proudly served our country from 1959-1961, as a Radio Teletype Operator, with the Third Armored Division of The U.S. Army. After serving in the military he worked as an offset pressman for Phillips Brothers Printing until he retired in 1999. Curly was a very active individual. He owned Central Illinois Laminating from 1986-1991, was a life member of VFW Post 755, a former member of the Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County, a Life member of Norris City Lodge 718 AF&AM, Valley of Springfield Scottish Rite, Ansar Shrine, Past President & Drummer for Ansar Patrol, Member of Senior Patrol, Ansar Legion of Honor, Royal Order of Jesters Court 20, and Charles Zaubi Golf League for 22 years. Curly is survived by his son Lance (Frankie) Allen of Arlington, VA, daughter Kimberly Krook of Land O'Lakes, FL, granddaughters Lamara Allen of Arlington, VA, Edyth Krook and Della Krook of Land O'Lakes, FL, his brother William Allen of Broughton, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, from 4-7 pm with Masonic Rites being accorded by Springfield Lodge 4 AF&AM, at 7pm, at Bisch Funeral Home 2931 S Koke Mill Rd Springfield IL 62711. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 3, at 9:30 am at the Funeral Home with speaker Danny Coker officiating the services . Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military rites will be provided by the Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail.
