Keskiner, Ali
Dr. Ali Keskiner, a pioneering psychiatrist, originally educated in Istanbul, Turkey and Montreal, Quebec, died on Tuesday morning at his home in Clearwater Florida. He was 86 years old.
Dr. Keskiner was born on March 10, 1929 in Kirsehir, Turkey. At a young age he was sent to Istanbul to study at Galatasaray Lyceum and then attended Istanbul University where he graduated in 1955. Following graduation Dr. Keskiner moved to Canada where he received his degree in psychiatry from McGill University in 1962. After working at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in St. Louis, he and his family relocated to Clearwater in 1974 to work at Anclote Manor Hospital located in Tarpon Springs. Throughout his time as a physician, Dr. Keskiner held a number of different hospital and university appointments and helped author many research papers advancing psychiatric medicine. He concluded his professional career as Chief of Psychiatry at Bay Pines VA Medical Center in St. Petersburg where he treated veterans from various foreign wars. Dr. Keskiner was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He loved traveling with family and friends, watching soccer and was an avid tennis player. Dr. Keskiner is survived by his wife Cindy, his sons Aydin & Rod, his stepsons Sean and Tim, and their combined eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held April 15 at 10 am at Sylvan Abbey located at 2853 Sunset Point Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to Suncoast Hospice.
