Alice Janice Smith, 82, of El Dorado passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016
Born on October 19, 1933 in El Dorado, AR; she was the daughter of Charles Stewart (C.S.) and Alice Elizabeth Dumas Wilson. She was a member of Dumas Memorial Methodist Church. Janice worked in retail as a sales associate for M M Cohn.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, David Paul Smith; sister, Elizabeth Ann "Honey" Garner; and sister-in-law, Nancy Wilson.
Those left to cherish her memory are son Keith Smith (Teresa) of El Dorado, daughters, Paula Yocum (Scott) of El Dorado, Pam Blake (Earl) of El Dorado; brothers, Charles Wilson of El Dorado and Winston Wilson (Dolores) of Ozark, AR; brother-in-law Ed Garner of El Dorado, brother-in-law, Bill Smith (Agnes) of El Dorado; grandchildren, Cherie Carpenter (Jeremy) of Lowell, AR, Clint Blake (Carlen) of El Dorado, Lauren White (Austin) of Alexander, AR, Rachel Blake of Conway, AR and Melissa Yocum of Little Rock, AR. Three adorable great-grandchildren, Emmie White, Atalie White, and Jackson Carpenter. Also cherished by Janice were many nieces and nephews.
Anyone who knew Janice knew of her great love for the Arkansas Razorbacks. The joke amongst her family was "you don't want to sit next to Mom (whom she was affectionately known as by her family) while she is riled up during a Razorback game, or you will come away black and blue!" It brought a whole new meaning to bleeding Razorback red! Janice loved to be outdoors with Paul whether it be
working in the yard or traveling...... especially gathering seashells at the beach. She loved to celebrate the smallest victories, take care of and delight in God's creation, as well as serve and give to others.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Young's.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Dumas Memorial Methodist Church, where Janice and Paul served the Lord and raised their family. Someone whom Janice watched grow-up at Dumas Memorial Methodist Church and whom she had a great respect for because of his devotion to Christ and to his family, Pete Parks, will be officiating. Rev. Winston Roden will also
be assisting with Janice's home-going service. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Garden under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
