Alice M. Gilbert, 98, of Waretown, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Tallwoods Care Center. Born in Kearny, NJ, she resided in Newark and Nutley before moving to Waretown. Alice was a waitress at Oyster Bay Restaurant in Forked River for 30 years before her retirement in 2000 and also had worked at Grants in Manahawkin. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be dearly missed.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank, brother Walter, sister Helen, daughter Patricia, son-in-law Jay, grandson Bryan and her beloved niece Louise. Surviving are her daughter Alice Eleanor Gilbert of Toms River; a son Frank Gilbert of VA; four grandchildren Chris Gantner and his wife Linda, Kenny Gantner, Jeanette Liput and her husband Ray and Mark Gantner and his wife Diana; and 14 cherished great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A funeral mass will be held on Monday Sept. 18 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Manahawkin.
