Alice was born October 21, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas to Willie Fitzpatrick and Idell Theresa Young. A lifelong Kansas City area resident, she grew up a member of Our Lady of St. Rose Catholic Church and graduated from Sumner High School in 1956. Alice married the love of her life, Clarence E. Henderson on November 7, 1956. She attended Kansas City Community College and worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Kansas Department of Social Services for a few years then worked at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Alice was born October 21, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas to Willie Fitzpatrick and Idell Theresa Young. A lifelong Kansas City area resident, she grew up a member of Our Lady of St. Rose Catholic Church and graduated from Sumner High School in 1956. Alice married the love of her life, Clarence E. Henderson on November 7, 1956. She attended Kansas City Community College and worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Kansas Department of Social Services for a few years then worked at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Alice worked for the chancellor for a few years before being promoted to the Director of Admissions and Housekeeping, where she worked until her retirement in 1996. In 1986, Alice was elected President of the Midwest Association of Hospital Admitting Managers, and was also a member of the Kansas Association of Hospital Admitting Managers. In addition to serving on the Discrimination Hearing Board of the Medical Center, Alice was a member of the Black Faculty and Staff Council Executive Committee and the African-American History Month Planning Committee. She won two awards for Black Achievers in Industry, first in 1990 and then in 1995. Alice was involved in many organizations: a social club called "Club Ultra Modern," she supported the United Negro College Fund, NAACP, United Way and the American Council for the Blind. She sang in the KU Med Center Choir and enjoyed writing, she even won an award for writing a Gospel song, "Everyday Praise Him." She loved watching the Chiefs and was a KU Jayhawk fan. Alice enjoyed traveling and fishing. She was also actively involved in the Henderson family reunion.
